Jet Zero Australia Sustainability Manager Jackie Mason said she was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the students at NRL Cowboys House.

“Jet Zero is building a SAF refinery here so we are going to be around for a long time, and we’d like to contribute to the development of the area. I think that starts with young people,” Jackie said.

“It’s hard to teach adults new things but young people are very open to new ideas and alternative ways of thinking, particularly these kids, they’re radiating joy – there’s such a beautiful feel here,” she said.

“We take the role we play in our communities seriously and we aim to have a positive and beneficial influence across the lives of those we impact.

“We’ve been following NRL Cowboys House for a while now because we wanted to connect with people and programs who were passionate about community so we could support the great things they are doing.

“They have the right recipe here at the House and we’re proud and excited to help support it to continue, grow and evolve well into the future.”

NRL Cowboys House, managed by Cowboys Community Foundation, provides unique wrap around cultural, educational, social and wellbeing supports for over 100 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from remote communities to attend secondary school.

Jet Zero’s partnership will support the Career Transitions Team who deliver individualised support to students and graduates in preparation for further study and career opportunities.

Cowboys Community Foundation CEO Fiona Pelling said it was an area of work the House would be focusing on as the number of alumni grows with each graduating cohort.

“Our vision at NRL Cowboys house is for all of our boarders to graduate high school and go on to either further education or meaningful employment,” Fiona said.

“Growing and expanding our Career Transitions Program is a key part of ensuring our students reach their full potential and it’s fantastic to have Jet Zero on board for the that,” she said.

“It is wonderful to also have their support and involvement in the new Raising Horizons aviation program taking off in the new year.

“Jet Zero is working in an industry where the potential for growth is immense, which opens new and exciting learning and career opportunities right here in Townsville.

“We’re incredibly grateful to have a partner like Jet Zero who is highly invested in the Townsville and North Queensland region and truly cares about making a difference to our students.”
