Kristy Manning has won the largest ever cash prize from the 50-50 Charity Raffle at a Cowboys game
From disappointment to joy!
A Townsville woman and long-time North Queensland Toyota Cowboys fan has turned $10 into over $24,000 after buying her first ever ticket in the 50-50 Charity Raffle held at Cowboys home games.
The win is the highest ever prize for the 50-50 Charity Raffle at a Cowboys game with over 40,000 tickets sold.
Kristy Manning and her husband couldn’t get tickets to go to the sold-out Cowboys v Broncos game at Queensland Country Bank Stadium but an out-of-character choice to purchase a raffle ticket online made up for it and more.
“It’s mind blowing! I’m in shock because I’ve never won anything in my life, not even five dollars on the lotto,” Kristy said.
“We were a bit disappointed that we couldn’t get tickets, but our teenage children did so I dropped them off at the stadium then came home to watch the game on TV,” she said.
“I’d seen the volunteers selling raffle tickets at the games, but I’d never purchased any for some reason. Then I was just scrolling through Facebook before the game started and saw the raffle was also online, so I did a bit of googling and thought ‘why not?’.
“It was quick and easy to buy the tickets and it was only $10, and now we’ve won over $24,000! It’s just amazing.
“We’re a big Cowboys family and we used to be members and season ticket holders for many years until we moved away. Now that we’re back, we’re looking at getting some for next season and this will definitely help!”
Kristy said the money will also go towards a family holiday and for her children to see snow for the first time.

Every ticket makes a difference
The record win is a result of the largest ever total of $48,808 in ticket sales, half of which goes Kristy and other half to support the Cowboys Community Foundation and its life-changing programs including NRL Cowboys House.
“The 50-50 Charity Raffle is one of our most important fundraising activities throughout the rugby league season,” Cowboys Community Foundation CEO Fiona Pelling said.
“Over 10 home games this season, we’ve sold over 180,000 tickets with 274 volunteers and an average cash prize of over $11,000,” she said.
“Every ticket buyer and volunteer make a difference and we’re extremely grateful for the support from the community.”
Our dedicated regular volunteers and corporate volunteer groups say they have a fun and rewarding experience.
